Focusing exclusively on workers' compensation litigation, William Z. Scott, Jr. is the managing attorney of the firm's Bethlehem office. William has handled well over 2,000 workers' compensation cases in his career. He has represented a large number of machine shops, hospitals, food stores, and clothing manufacturers as well as all types of employers of varying sizes.
William is a graduate of Lafayette College. Following graduation from college he attended The Dickinson School of Law, where he achieved his Juris Doctorate in 1977.
He began work as an associate for the firm of Wittmack and Borden in Lords Valley, Pennsylvania, where he practiced in general civil and criminal law.
In 1979, William joined the firm of Scott and Lazorchak in Lansford, Pennsylvania, again concentrating in civil and criminal law. After the death of Robert Lazorchak in 1981, he became a sole practitioner and started a concentration in defense litigation.
From 1989 to 1993, he was a partner in the firm of Scott and Webb. Richard Webb became a Judge of Court of Common Pleas of Carbon County in 1993, and William again was a sole practitioner. This continued until he joined the firm of Marshall, Dennehey, Warner, Coleman & Goggin in 1996.
William has lectured for various organizations on civil and workers' compensation law. William currently serves on the Board of Directors of Mahoning Valley Ambulance Association, the Board of Directors of Pennsylvania Bar Institute, and the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation. He is also a member of the Committee of Judicial Independence.
William is a member of the Board of Governors of Pennsylvania Bar Association and a former Chancellor of Carbon County Bar Association. As well, he is a former President of Conference of County Bar Leaders and a former President of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute.
