Jaime J. Baca was born in Nicaragua in 1969, and moved to Key Biscayne, Florida in 1981. Since 1987, when. he obtained his General Lines Insurance Agent license, Mr. Baca has been working in the business of insurance. Mr. Baca has worked as a commercial and personal lines insurance broker, an underwriter, a claims adjuster, and an insurance law instructor.
Mr. Baca attended St. Thomas School of Law where he graduated Cum Laude in 1997. He received the Book Award, as best student, in Federal Courts, Professional Responsibility, Corporations, and Administrative Law. He was a member of the St. Thomas' Moot Court Board, competed in national competitions, and helped prepare other Moot Court team members for their competitions. Mr. Baca's legal studies at St. Thomas University were concentrated in the areas of insurance law and civil litigation.
Mr. Baca' s undergraduate studies were completed at Florida International University, where he obtained his B.A. in Business Administration in 1992. He also obtained the degree of Masters of Science in Finance in 1994 at Florida International University. At the same time, he obtained the Chartered Property and Casualty designation, CPCU, which is a highly recognized professional designation in insurance and risk management. He has served as an officer for the South Florida Chapter of the CPCU Society, a non-profit insurance organization, as Vice President during 1996-1997, and Treasurer from 1994-1996. He has served as an instructor certified by the Florida Department of Insurance in the field of insurance contract interpretations, and the legal environment of insurance.
