Happel was born in Columbia, South Carolina on August 27, 1981. He graduated from Wofford College (B.S., 2003) and from the University of South Carolina School of Law (J.D./M.E.E.R.M., 2008) where he was a member of the Environmental Law Society, the Student Bar Association, and the President of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity.
He was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 2008. He is a member of Charleston County, South Carolina, and American Bar Associations. His areas of practice include construction, medical malpractice, environmental claims, toxic torts, insurance law, products liability, and commercial litigation.
