Nicolai Schurko is a member of both the Privacy and Data Security practice group and the Technology, Media & Intellectual Property practice group. The focus of his practice consists of advising corporations, healthcare providers, and other entities on compliance with state and federal data breach notification and privacy laws. He regularly assists clients in responding to data breaches, including issuing individual notifications pursuant to state and federal law, corresponding with state Attorneys General, and establishing identity theft prevention programs.
Nicolai received his bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2006, graduating with high honors. He then went on to attend the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and received his J.D. with honors in 2010. While attending law school, Nicolai participated in the Health Law Civil Litigation Clinic, where he assisted low income clients obtain Social Security benefits by advocating at appeals hearings. Nicolai's achievements in various civil litigation courses resulted in his receipt of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law "Trial Advocacy Award" in May 2010. He also served as the Articles Editor of the "Pittsburgh Tax Review" law journal.
Prior to joining Marshall Dennehey in the summer of 2009, Nicolai worked as a law clerk for the Pittsburgh-based general practice firm Goehring Rutter & Boehm. He is currently admitted to practice in Pennsylvania.
