Ryan Helgeson focuses his practice on obtaining visas and other work authorization for our clients.  He has successfully assisted clients in attaining H-1B, L-1A, L-1B, and TN nonimmigrant visas as well as first/second/third preference employment visas.  Additionally, Ryan handles portability issues associated with employment visas and is experienced in the “Green-card” process.  He guides the client through these complicated immigration processes, helping the client understand the requirements and responsibilities associated with the particular visa.

Ryan is also very familiar with Form I-9 and other work authorization verification requirements.  He is available for internal I-9 audits and has experience representing employers in their dealings with I.C.E. audits.

Ryan has practiced in federal Immigration and District courts, representing clients in a variety of immigration and business-related issues.

Prior to joining Wessels Sherman, Ryan practiced immigration law with a Chicago law firm that is affiliated with the largest law firm in China.  This background provided Ryan with a wealth of experience representing a large volume of diverse business clients in many aspects of complex immigration matters.

Ryan is an honors graduate of DePaul University College of Law and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point.
