Mark J. Schnitzler, was born in Mineola, New York. He attended the State University of New York, College at Brockport in Brockport, New York. After graduating from Brockport, he worked as a paralegal for The Legal Aid Society in New York City. He received his J.D., with honors, from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2003 where he was a member of the Probate Law Journal and he represented the School of Law in National Mock trial competitions.
Mr. Schnitzler began his legal career as captive litigation counsel for an insurance company and he then joined the Connecticut office of a national law firm where he litigated complex cases. He joined Ivey, Barnum & O'Mara in 2009.
Mr. Schnitzler's areas of practice include commercial and general litigation. He handles product liability, product safety, and product regulatory issues. Mr. Schnitzler also provides risk assessments for newly acquired and existing companies which are used to assist in the identification and mitigation of risk, often with a focus on insurance concerns.
He is admitted to the bars of the States of Connecticut and New York. He is also admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut and the Southern District of New York. He is a member of the Greenwich and Connecticut Bar Associations. Mr. Schnitzler is also an active member of the Defense Research Institute (www.dri.org) which is an international organization of attorneys defending the interests of businesses and individuals in civil litigation.
