Eliza Scheibel is an associate in the firm's Litigation/Controversy and Regulatory and Government Affairs Departments, and a member of the Business Trial Group and the Antitrust and Competition and Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation Practice Groups. She joined the firm in 2007. In 2010, Ms. Scheibel returned to the firm after completing a clerkship with the Honorable Thomas M. Hardiman on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Practice
Prior to joining WilmerHale, Ms. Scheibel completed a clerkship with the Honorable Ernest C. Torres of the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island.
Ms. Scheibel’s practice includes both trial-level and appellate litigation in a wide variety of civil matters before federal and state courts. Her focus is on antitrust and appellate litigation. Ms. Scheibel represents a large pharmaceutical manufacturer defending an antitrust challenge to a so-called “reverse payment” settlement of Hatch-Waxman patent litigation. Ms. Scheibel has also worked on a variety of general commercial matters including securities litigation, litigation under the state False Claims Act, and investigations in the health care industry.
Ms. Scheibel maintains an active pro bono practice including both civil and criminal work. Recent matters have involved the First Amendment right to access information, criminal sentencing and procedure, and representation of individuals in administrative proceedings regarding government benefits.
