Biographical Notes: Mr. Harlan is one of the founding shareholders of Madigan, Dahl & Harlan, P.A. With the exception of a short hiatus with a startup real estate/tax lien acquisition, holding and servicing company, Mr. Harlan has practiced law since 1991.
Mr. Harlan graduated from William Mitchell College of Law, St. Paul in 1990 and thereafter clerked for the Honorable Peter J. Lindberg in the Hennepin County District Courts. At William Mitchell, he served as an Associate Editor of the William Mitchell Law Review. Mr. Harlan is licensed to practice before the Minnesota State Courts, U.S. District Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit. Mr. Harlan has been recognized as a "Rising Star" by the Minnesota Journal of Law and Politics.
Since 1991, Mr. Harlan has been continuously active in commercial law and litigation focusing on business, construction and real estate law. He serves as counselor to a variety of small to medium-size businesses advising them on all aspects of business law from choice, formation, and capitalization of entities, to consulting and negotiating various contracts and agreements, and finally representing these clients and their needs in courts across the country. Published opinions include In Re Butler, 552 N.W. 226 (Minn. 1996) which was a leading case involving the cancellation of a Contract for Deed or land sale contract and whether such cancellation constituted a fraudulent transfer under Minnesota Law and the United States Bankruptcy law.
