Mary Ryan joined GMF's Construction Law and Commercial Litigation practice group in 2010. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Ryan was general counsel to a Connecticut construction industry supply company for sixteen years. Previous to her work as in-house counsel, she was in private practice with a firm in Cheshire, Connecticut. Mary began her legal career as a Staff Attorney with the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch Legal Research Program.
Attorney Ryan's previous private practice and in-house experience encompassed advising and representing clients in a variety of areas including business and construction law, mechanic's liens, employee relations, creditor's collection matters, regulatory compliance, safety issues, development and implementation of business and safety policies & procedures, drafting commercial leases and other documents, and worker's compensation matters. With this varied background Attorney Ryan serves as a valuable member of GMF's Construction Law and Commercial Litigation practice group.
Mary lives in Durham, Connecticut where she is an active member of her community. Mary is an elected member of the Durham Public Library Board of Trustees. She is currently holds the Board position of Vice-Chair after many terms as Recording Secretary. Throughout her tenure on the Board of Trustees she has been a leading member of the Building Maintenance Committee. In 2011, Mary was invited to join the Board of Directors of the Coginchaug Valley Education Foundation, an organization that provides annual grants to support inter-generational, life-long learning in the towns of Durham and Middlefield. Attorney Ryan is also an approved Moderator for Town of Durham town meetings. While in private practice in Cheshire, Mary was an active member of the Cheshire Chamber of Commerce and served for three consecutive terms as President of its Board of Directors.
