Debra Haan graduated from Kalamazoo College in 1989 with a B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature. Throughout her undergraduate career, she spent time studying and working in Madrid, Spain and San José, Costa Rica. She has also spent time studying in Tours, France. Ms. Haan is fluent in Spanish and conversant with French. Upon graduation from Kalamazoo College, Ms. Haan attended law school at Washington University in St. Louis. She graduated from law school in 1992. Ms. Haan has applied her language abilities throughout her legal career, representing Spanish speaking clients as both plaintiffs and defendants.
The first ten years of Ms. Haan's legal career were spent representing plaintiffs in personal injury and products liability cases in the trial and appellate courts of Georgia as well as in the United States District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia and the Eleventh Circuit United States Court of Appeals. Ms. Haan has tried numerous cases as lead counsel, obtaining favorable results for her clients.
In 2003, Ms. Haan joined Gray, Rust, St. Amand, Moffett & Brieske. Since having joined the firm, Ms. Haan has actively litigated cases in a variety of areas, with an emphasis in public sector law, construction law and toxic torts. She has extensive experience litigating in the mass tort arena. Along with Michael Rust, Ms. Haan has represented several different manufacturers of asbestos-containing products, defending their interests in over 500 cases. The majority of Ms. Haan's cases involve claims of catastrophic injury and/or wrongful death. She continues to litigate in both the Georgia and federal courts and has experience in multi-district litigation.
Ms. Haan has lived in Atlanta since graduating from law school in 1992. She and her husband, Jeremy, have two daughters and live in the Morningside neighborhood of Atlanta. They are actively involved in their local community and are supporters of cultural and arts programs in the City of Atlanta.
