Rachel Gurvich is a senior associate in the firm's Litigation/Controversy Department, and a member of the Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation and Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Groups. She joined the firm in 2007. Ms. Gurvich returned in 2009 after completing a clerkship with the Honorable Kermit V. Lipez on the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
Practice
Ms. Gurvich's practice includes both trial-level and appellate litigation in state and federal court. Her focus is intellectual property law, and primarily patent litigation, where she has represented a variety of high-tech clients, including medical device manufacturers, wireless mobile communications companies and clients in the semiconductor industry. She has also been involved with copyright and antitrust matters as well as general commercial litigation. Ms. Gurvich maintains an active pro bono practice, which has included a Ninth Circuit en banc petition and the representation of both commercial and residential tenants in summary process cases against their landlords. While in law school, Ms. Gurvich participated in the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinic to successfully obtain asylum for a Guatemalan client and worked in the Housing Unit at Greater Boston Legal Services.
