Andrea believes that being a great lawyer is about more than just knowing the law - it's about knowing how to listen. An average lawyer will understand the client's legal options and - hopefully - explain them well, but an exceptional lawyer will also understand the client's underlying interests and motivations, as well as his or her values. To Andrea, these provide the key to outstanding service, satisfied clients, and efficient resolutions. Andrea views law as a healing profession, one in which the goal should be restoring peace, not promoting conflict. In all of her work, Andrea supports prevention, alternative dispute resolution, and holistic practice to provide her clients with the tools and perspective to bring peace back to their lives.

Andrea earned her bachelors degree in psychology at the University of California, Santa Cruz and began her career working in the human resources field for a Silicon Valley high-technology company.  After relocating to Minnesota in 1996, Andrea wanted to further explore her academic interests and completed a second bachelors degree in the sociology of law, criminology, and deviance at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Through her experiences at the university Andrea became deeply interested in law and the many ways in which it can both enrich and encumber people's lives.

After earning her Juris Doctor in 2001 from Hamline University School of Law in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Andrea worked at the Minnesota Department of Human Rights and served as a law clerk to the Honorable Karen Asphaug in the Minnesota State Courts, First Judicial District. Andrea's practice then focused for several years on representing corporations in the area of employment counseling and litigation defense. Since relocating to Wisconsin in 2009, Andrea has gradually transitioned her practice to one in which she can work more directly and personally with her clients. Andrea brings diverse experiences to her work and a lifelong passion for helping people. An active volunteer for many years, Andrea has served as a telephone crisis counselor, a support group facilitator, a rescue dog walker, a visitor to the elderly, a tenant advocate, and a zoo docent. Currently, Andrea is involved in the Fox Valley community as a volunteer mediator at the Winnebago Conflict Resolution Center and provides pro bono legal services through the State Bar of Wisconsin's Wills for Heroes program and the Volunteer Lawyers Project at Legal Action of Wisconsin.
