Al Rota's practice is concentrated in the areas of securities and complex business litigation. He has defended corporations and individuals in securities fraud class actions and shareholder derivative cases in state and federal courts across the country. Al is also experienced in internal audit committee investigations and government enforcement proceedings.
In addition, Al's practice includes the defense of companies in products liability and commercial litigation. Prior to concentrating on securities fraud litigation, Al was a member of the Jones Day trial team that obtained a directed defense verdict on behalf of Brown & Williamson in Rosen v. Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corp., the first tobacco trial conducted in the New York Supreme Court for Nassau County. Al also represented Experian Information Solutions in individual and class action cases arising under the Fair Credit Reporting Act in federal courts across the country. His representation of Experian included obtaining summary judgment on behalf of the company in Caltabiano v. BSB Bank & Trust Co., et. al. in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
