Kevin G. Rooney is a Partner with Wood, Herron & Evans and is involved in all facets of the firm's practice. He focuses his expertise on patent and trademark procurement, enforcement, counseling and strategic planning. Admitted to the Ohio bar in 1992 and registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Kevin's patent practice is centered in the mechanical and electro-mechanical technologies and he is also active in trademark procurement and enforcement.
Prior to joining Wood, Herron & Evans in 1992, Kevin was a patent examiner for five years focusing mainly on medical devices. He also held a detail in the Office of Legislative and International Affairs at the United States Patent and Trademark Office where he advised the U.S. Trade Representative's Office on intellectual property aspects of trade agreements and treaties. With this experience, Kevin is also heavily involved with international patent procurement matters.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Cincinnati in 1987 and graduated with honors with a Juris Doctor degree from The George Washington University National Law Center in 1992.
Kevin is an active member of the Ohio and Cincinnati Bar Associations, as well as the American and Cincinnati Intellectual Property Law Associations. Cincy Business Magazine has named him a Leading Lawyer in the specialties of patent and intellectual property law based on voting by his peers. Since 2001, Kevin has served as an arbitrator for the Dispute Resolution Services Department of the Council of Better Business Bureaus. He also serves as an adjunct professor of patent law and procedure at Northern Kentucky University's Salmon P. Chase College of Law. He resides in Loveland, Ohio with his wife Mary and their two children.
