On a brisk, rainy day when customers were few and far between at a car dealership in Charleston, South Carolina, two co-workers pondered their lots in life. What other adventures or career paths could be waking for them, away from the rows of shiny inventory? He had dreams of the FBI or an expansive board room filled with the heads of industry. She lamented her decision to abandon a career in medicine. He suggested that she may enjoy a career in law, something she had never considered before. Within thirty minutes, they had researched a newly founded law school in Charleston; she was registered to take the LSAT, just weeks away; and she began compiling records for the school's admissions committee.
On a daily basis, Davi is best described as structured. She prefers her days to be planned and organized with few surprises. In practice, she is methodical in case management and takes great comfort in an orderly calendar and office. However, the big picture of Davis life has followed an uncharted, winding path.
Davi was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her parents provided many opportunities to satiate her varied childhood curiosities. She explored the woods in her backyard for hours on end looking for treasures. She attended Space Camp, traveled frequently in the U.S., toured throughout Europe, and tried her hand at swimming, golf, photography, and piano. She read as much as she could get her hands on, including the bulk of the encyclopedias her parents invested in and stored on a shelf that sewed usher headboard.
She wound up at a college that was not even on her radar as she researched and visited institutions-Purdue University. She graduated with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis on Change Management, a far cry from her aspirations to go to medical school. Davi did not pursue a career in Organizational Leadership. Instead, she remained in the business she grew up around; the retail automotive business. She gained experience in that field in Lafayette, Indiana, and Charleston, South Carolina. Upon hearing the story, many conclude Davi landed at the Charleston School of Law on a whim. However, the most valuable lessons she has learned, the most cherished and influential people in her life, and her place at Kernodle Root + Coleman are all delightful consequences of curiosity, exploration, and providence. Practicing law is the best of both worlds for Davi: an outlet for her inquisitiveness in a highly ordered environment.
