Mr. Riedel's most recent position prior to joining Conkle, Kremer & Engel was Vice President and General Counsel of Proctor & Gamble's P&G Professional Care, including its Wella, Sebastian, Graham Webb, Clairol Professional, Johnson Products and Belvedere divisions and subsidiaries.
In 1981, Mr. Riedel graduated with honors from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. After graduation, Mr. Riedel obtained experience as a real estate broker. Mr. Riedel then attended Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 1986. While at Loyola, Mr. Riedel served as a judicial extern for the Honorable William "Matt" Byrne, Jr., at the federal court in Los Angeles. Mr. Riedel was admitted to the California State Bar in 1987.
Prior to joining Conkle, Kremer & Engel, Mr. Riedel was a member of Dickson, Carlson & Campillo, a litigation firm based in Santa Monica. While at that firm, Mr. Riedel specialized in business litigation, including arbitration, trial and appellate work in state and federal courts. Mr. Riedel left that firm to serve as Vice President and General Counsel of Sebastian. He continued in that position after Sebastian was acquired by Wella, and also when Wella was subsequently acquired by P&G Professional Care. Over a 10 year period, Mr. Riedel helped the company more than double the size of its professional salon products business through a series of mergers, distributor buy-outs and acquisitions. Mr. Riedel also helped co-found The Beauty Industry Fund, a non-profit trade association dedicated to the eradication of product diversion, decoding and piracy. Mr. Riedel has been a leader in industry anti-diversion, anti-counterfeiting and anti-piracy efforts.
