Sean J. Doolan, Esq. is a managing partner and one of the primary litigation attorneys in the firm. He concentrates on neglect and abuse cases arising in nursing home, hospital, assisted living, and home care settings, and select criminal matters.
Sean graduated from Pace University School of Law in 1994. He started his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County prosecuting white-collar crimes. He later worked as a DWI Prosecutor in Greene County. He has also worked for an insurance defense firm defending personal injury claims. A solo practitioner since the late 1990s, Sean merged his firm in April, 2012 with the Westchester firm of Hyman and Platt, P.C. With the formation of Doolan & Platt, LLP the firm now handles nursing home matters throughout New York State.
The firm is Of Counsel on select nursing home matters to the Law Offices of Martin, Harding, & Mazzotti, LLP of Troy-Schenectady Road in Albany, NY; Fellows, Hymowitz, and Epstein, LLC in Rockland County, NY; and Ferro, Kuba, Mangano, Skylar in New York City. These relationships permit Doolan & Platt, LLP to handle nursing home cases throughout New York State. Sean has been honored to co-author a chapter on litigation strategies in the book, Nursing Home Litigation: Investigation and Case Preparation, 2nd Edition, published by Lawyers & Judges Publishing Company. Sean also co-authored a chapter and revised a second chapter in another book for the Lawyers & Judges Publishing Company, Nursing Malpractice, 3d Ed.
Sean has been a guest lecturer at numerous Nursing Home/Assisted Living Litigation and Negligence seminars. Some of the organizations that he lectured for include: American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC), Lorman Education Services, Professional Education Systems Institute, LLC (PESI), Greene County Department of the Aging, New York State Bar Association, Rockland County Bar Association, and the Albany County Bar Association.
Sean is a member of the Greene County Bar Association, Albany County Bar Association, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice (formerly known as the American Trial Lawyers Association). He is also a member of the Nursing Home Group of the American Association of Justice and a New York based nursing home litigation group of plaintiff attorneys.
Sean and his wife have one son in college and reside in Ashland, NY. He and his family moved from Bronx County, New York to the Catskill Mountains in 1998 after having visited the area for years.
