Dennis is an attorney in the firm of Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association. He is a member of the Business Litigation Section and the Environmental Law Group. Dennis practices principally in the areas of:
Dennis has handled environmental remediation for hundreds of contaminated sites nationally. Specifically, he counsels clients in creating cleanup scenarios that integrate with brownfield development and funding, brokering settlements among large numbers of potentially responsible parties, negotiating with environmental agencies, hiring and overseeing technical consultants, preparing analyses of cost impacts for client review, and insurance recovery counseling. In addition, Dennis has assisted clients with creating environmental management systems that assure compliance and promote the integration of environmental considerations into everyday operations.
Prior to joining Briggs, Dennis ran his own private environmental legal practice. During this time, he counseled a large, $33 billion publicly traded company as its environmental law legal team leader. In addition to general counsel responsibilities, such as managing other outside law firms and performing due diligence, Dennis managed consultants and contractors in major mergers and acquisitions, and environmental remediation projects on behalf of the client.
Dennis is admitted to practice in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and respective U.S. district courts for Wisconsin and Illinois. He is a member of the Wisconsin State and American Bar associations. He was recently selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America in environmental law.
Dennis received his B.S. from the University of Wisconsin, where he majored in physics and education and also obtained a minor in chemistry. He received his J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School. He was formerly a partner at several other known law firms in Chicago and Milwaukee. He joined Briggs in 2007.
