Chris Register specializes in complex commercial litigation, representing international clients in multi-party lawsuits. Chris' primary focus has been the representation of Pemex Exploración y Producción, an affiliate of the Mexican national oil company, in a lawsuit in Houston, Texas related to the trafficking of natural gas condensate (a hydrocarbon similar to light oil) stolen from fields in Northern Mexico and smuggled into the United States. Defendants in this lawsuit include some of the largest oil companies in Texas and around the world.
Prior to joining Maney & González-Félix PC Houston|Mexico DF, Chris studied law at Georgetown University, where he coached the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition team, and similarly focused his studies on international law related jurisdictional issues in U.S. courts.
Before attending Georgetown, Chris served as a United States Peace Corps Volunteer in El Salvador, working with a local community on projects ranging from sustainable agriculture to small business development. Chris has traveled and lived throughout Latin America, and is fluent in Spanish and conversant in Brazilian Portuguese.
