Richard is an associate in the firm's Litigation Department. Richard counsels a variety of corporate entities and individuals concerning complex contract, regulatory, and insurance coverage disputes; disputes over corporate financing; and breach of fiduciary duty claims pending in state and federal courts, as well as claims submitted to mediation and arbitration. In his capacity as a volunteer of Lawyers for Children America, Richard defends the interests of juvenile clients who are victims of neglect and need assistance in achieving permanent guardianship arrangements. Richard has co-authored case notes of interest to the federal criminal bar annually published by the American Bar Association Criminal Litigation Committee. Since 2008 Richard has been an active member of the firm's Diversity Committee, where he generates ideas for mentoring and the firm's internal diversity newsletter, and chairs a sub-committee of partners, associates, administrators, and staff in arranging the firm's annual International Smorgasbord. Richard energetically serves as a mentor to associates and law students alike, and participates in the firm's Fall recruiting efforts. Outside the office, Richard teaches and directs gospel choirs, plays soccer, and enjoys cooking. Richard is a member of the Yale Alumni Schools Committee and chairs the Alumni Board of the Yale Undergraduate Gospel Choir, Inc.
Richard received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was Notes and Comments Editor of the Georgetown Journal on Poverty Law and Policy, and received the Dean's Certificate for outstanding service to the Georgetown University Law Center community. Richard graduated with a B.A. in American Studies, with Distinction, from Yale University.
