AARON L. DETTLING is a Partner in the Labor and Employment practice of Balch & Bingham LLP. Before entering private practice, Aaron served for two years in a judicial clerkship in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Alabama. Aaron advises and represents public and private employers on issues relating to employment practices. Aaron’s areas of special experience include disparate impact claims, The Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures, and statistical and economic evidence of discrimination.
Aaron has spent the better part of his career helping cities, colleges, and other State and local government agencies comply with their legal obligations. As such, Aaron is familiar with the special legal challenges facing public entities, such as the open meetings and open records laws, competitive bidding, budgetary and financial constraints, immunity issues, election law, ethics, and state and federal constitutional issues.
