I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, the son of two folks, both who grew up on farms, in rural Virginia. My Dad worked for the Federal Reserve Bank, in Dallas, virtually his entire adult life, after receiving his PhD from the University of Virginia, in agricultural economics. My Mom taught various aspects of homemaking, at the high school level (including sewing: she's a wonderful seamstress), and during that time, received her M.A. from Texas Women's University, in the History of Fashion. I attended Lake Highlands High School, which is where my Mom taught, and was school photographer and yearbook editor, during my junior and senior years. I graduated as an honor graduate.

I attended Rice University, graduating in 1974, with a double major, in English and History. I then joined the student body of the University of Houston Law Center, and received my J.D., in 1977, with concentrations in contract law, corporate law, and real estate law. There, I was selected to write for, and to assist in editing, The Houston Law Review, the scholarly legal publication of the school.

For many years, I have been many dentists', as well as specialists', go to guy, nationwide, with regard to preparing documentation, when my clients need an agreement to hire an associate, such as an Employment Agreement or Independent Contractor Agreement, forming organizations, such as professional corporations and professional limited liability companies, as well as others; preparing the documentation for the sales of practices (walk away sales), and sales of partial interests in professional practices; and Operating Agreements or Partnership Agreements, between and among practitioners, under which they agree to practice together, utilizing various costs sharing and compensation schemes, and also addressing issues such as death, disability and retirement.

Most of the representations of dentists and specialists have arisen out of my professional relationship with the Dallas, Texas based financial planning and certified public accounting firm of Cain, Watters & Associates, P.L.L.C. (Cain, Watters). The practice of Cain, Watters is nationwide, and their clientele, due to their experience and expertise, has historically been dentists and related specialists. I have worked with that firm from its inception, however always remaining independent from it. In fact, I worked with Darrell Cain, prior to Mr. Cain establishing the firm. Cain, Watters routinely refers to my office the types of legal matters, which my website and this narrative describe, and which I have become extremely experienced in handling for those clients. My relationships with Cain, Watters, and the clients, through the years, have resulted in my immense knowledge, not only of the necessary provisions of legal documentation, with regard to dentists' and specialists' practices, but also, with regard to the nature of those professions, and what is involved in successful practices. I know a great deal about how each of the types of practices is operated, how the compensation schemes should work, and special factors affecting compensation and costs, with regard to dentistry and specialty practices. I have learned a great deal about the practices, themselves. I prepared the documentation for my first dental practice sale/transition in 1986, and have been actively preparing such documentation, ever since. Of course, I have also prepared many Employment and Independent Contractor Agreements and other related documentation, as described in the website, for the clients of Cain, Watters. I have also become an expert on the Cain, Watters methodology, for compensating associates, as well as structuring Partnership and Operating Agreements consistent with their theories and methodologies for compensation and costs sharing. In addition, I have had frequent occasion to advise Cain, Watters clients with regard to estate planning issues and have prepared hundreds of Wills and Trusts, as well as Limited Partnerships, and other organizations utilized in estate planning and asset protection methodologies. Wills, Trusts, and estate planning advice for dentists and specialists are no different from those for any other highly compensated professional, however, inasmuch as my clients have learned to trust my abilities and experience, they have also routinely vested in me the confidence to engage me to prepare their estate and related documentation on a timely and accurate basis.

I am a Director of Dallas Children's Charities, an umbrella charity, which has become one of the nation's largest toy distribution charities, distributing donated toys, from individuals and retailers, to children at risk, year around, not only in the Dallas area, but throughout the southwest. We also have a substantial charity budget from which we routinely donate cash to other children's charities, for their purposes. We also acquire computers and software, for very ill children, in the Dallas area. We are active in our community for the benefit of children in many other ways.

I have several personal interests, in which I am actively engaged, virtually continually, in my hometown, of Dallas, Texas. Initially, I am extremely interested in contemporary art, and belong to every museum in Dallas and Fort Worth. Of note, would be the Dallas Museum of Art, The Nasher Sculpture Museum, the Modern Museum in Fort Worth, and the Dallas Contemporary. I also attend numerous art gallery openings, virtually every week, where I enjoy seeing the work by both emerging and established artists. Having a modest art collection adds enjoyment to living in my home and practicing in my office. In 2009, I received my B.A. in the History of Modern Art, from Breyer State University.

I have also been very interested in music my entire life, and have played the guitar since I was 12 years old. I used to collect guitars, however disposed of the majority of my collection, a number of years ago. Now I retain only guitars which I actively play, on a regular basis, and which I enjoy doing in my home and, from time to time, at blues jams, which are held around Dallas at various venues. Of course, I like listening to music including all forms of blues, and also everything produced by Rod Stewart and Swing Out Sister, a pop duo from England.
I have always enjoyed automobiles, and enjoy watching any form of automobile racing, from NASCAR to Formula 1, and everything in between. I also have owned some nice automobiles during my life, of note, primarily, Porsches, Jaguars, and Mercedes Benz'.

Finally, being from Texas, I am an ardent football fan. That I enthusiastically follow the Cowboys, every season, almost goes without mention. Almost.
