Heather B. Poster is a shareholder with the law firm of Becker, Hickey & Poster, S.C., Milwaukee, and practices family law, estate planning, elder law, including trusts for the disabled, Title 19 planning and guardianship. She received her B.A. in behavioral science from the University of Wisconsin in 1999 (with distinction) and her J.D. from Marquette Law School in 2002.
Heather is a member of the State of Wisconsin Elder Law Section Board. She is a member and Chair of the Board for WisPACT, Inc., the non-profit organization that oversees pooled and community trusts for the elderly and disabled and is a frequent contributor to the Elder Law Journal of Wisconsin. Heather is also a co-editor of the Medicaid Divestment Chapter of the Attorney's Desk Reference of the State Bar of Wisconsin and an editor of the Medicaid Chapter of Advising Older Clients and Their Families. In 2012, she was appointed to the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) Steering Committee focusing on Trusts and Special Needs Trusts. She was named a rising star in elder law by Wisconsin Super Lawyers, a Law and Politics publication for 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011. Heather is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, the Milwaukee Bar Association, the Association for Women Lawyers and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. She lectures extensively on Title 19 (Medicaid) planning for the disabled and elderly and special needs trusts.
