Gina M. Polo was born in Miami, Florida, and attended Florida State University, from which she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Psychology. She obtained her law degree at the University of Florida, Levin College of Law in 1999, and was admitted to practice in the State of Florida that same year. Ms. Polo is currently a partner at the law firm, Weiss, Alden & Polo, P.A., an immigration law firm established in 1975.
Ms. Polo is certified by the Florida Bar as an expert in Immigration and Nationality Law.
Ms. Polo limits her practice to United States immigration law. She has represented hundreds of clients throughout the United States and around the world in matters before United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), and Department of State offices throughout the U.S. and at U.S. Embassies and Consular Posts around the world.
Ms. Polo’s clients include business owners, professionals and managers, entertainers and athletes, academic researchers, teachers, and investors in matters relating to: temporary visas, Permanent Residence Status, U.S. Citizenship and Naturalization, and Deportation and Removal Proceedings Defense before Immigration Courts throughout the United States.
Ms. Polo has been a guest on the international television show, Despierta America, on Univision, where she discussed current issues relating to US immigration law. Ms. Polo has also been a guest speaker at Business Networking International (BNI) in Bogotá, Colombia, when the organization launched its national grand opening in 2010. Ms. Polo has traveled throughout Latin America in representation of her clients. She has also provided testimony as an expert witness regarding immigration matters before the Family Law Division of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, for divorce proceedings.
In addition to her profession, Ms. Polo is actively involved in her community and volunteers for several organizations. She is involved with Strong Women, Strong Girls, in which she mentors a college student at the University of Miami, and was the first invited speaker for a series entitled Strong Women Spotlight, in which the chapter has women serving the Miami community come and share their experience with the college women in the group. Ms. Polo has also participated with the Miami Children's Initiative in rappelling off of the JW Marquis Hotel in order to raise funds for the organization. This two day event raised over $250,000 for the charity, which benefits education in Miami Dade county. She has also organized participation of her colleagues to serve meals at the Chapman Partnership homeless shelter in downtown Miami.
