After graduation from Law School in 1974, Paul began his legal career as a hearing examiner for the Illinois State Commerce Commission. In January of 1975, he joined the Lake County, Illinois State’s Attorney’s Office where he tried all types of criminal cases including armed robbery, rape and murder cases.
In March of 1979 he joined the Soffietti firm. He was made a partner in 1981. Since 1981 his practice has focused on personal injury litigation. He is the lead attorney on the firm’s injury litigation team. His personal injury practice includes cases involving motor vehicle accidents, wrongful death, slip and fall, animal attacks, medical and dental malpractice, premises liability, property damage, assault and battery, aviation and railroad accidents and defamation and privacy cases. He is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and Illinois Bar Association.
Paul and his wife, Barbara, reside in Lindenhurst, Illinois and have three children and two grandchildren.
Paul has obtained many notable jury verdicts and settlements. His verdicts and settlements include the following:
- $2,860,000.00 for a wrongful death action in the Circuit Court of Cook County on behalf of the estate of a North Chicago man who was killed while riding as a passenger in a vehicle that was struck in congested traffic on the I-94 Edens Spur by a tractor-trailer whose breaks were defective.
- $1,250,000.00 for a 72 year old male motorcyclist hit by a car injuring his head, neck and back
- Confidential multi-million dollar settlement on behalf of the widow of 67 year old man killed in a United Airlines flight which crashed in Sioux City, Iowa
- $750,000.00 for an 71 year old male who sustained chest and head injuries in an airline crash
- $650,000.00 SJTP&A Attorneys recently settled a personal injury action on behalf of a 16 year-old minor who was struck by a vehicle while walking on a public street in Fox Lake, Illinois.
