Irene Savanis Fiorentinos, who joined Jones Day when the Chicago Office first opened in 1987, has extensive experience with complex commercial litigation. She has litigated as much in state as in federal courts, within Illinois as well as in other jurisdictions, has tried several cases, including six jury trials, and is a qualified member of the Northern District of Illinois Trial Bar. She also has significant state and federal appellate experience.
Irene's commercial litigation experience includes commercial disputes arising from acquisitions and divestitures and involving complex breach of contract, indemnification, and fraud claims. She also has litigated securities, environmental, warranty, real estate, dealership/franchisee, trade secret, and Sarbanes-Oxley matters. She has experience with class action litigation and settlements, including consumer class actions, and also has defended federal and state whistleblower actions.
In the employment law area, Irene has successfully represented companies headquartered throughout the United States in all phases of litigation involving state and federal antidiscrimination laws as well as contract and tort claims relating to wrongful discharge, employment agreements, and restrictive covenants.
Irene regularly counsels U.S. and non-U.S. clients on a variety of litigation-related topics and provides litigation guidance to corporate deal teams.
Irene is actively involved with the Firm's electronic discovery initiatives and lawyer training activities. She has presented training programs on various topics to clients and local bar associations as well as within the Firm.
She is a member of the American Bar Association (co-chair of the E-Discovery Subcommittee of the Commercial and Business Litigation Committee) and The Chicago Bar Association.
