Jim Pelland is an experienced civil trial lawyer with over sixteen years of successful experience representing individuals and businesses in a wide range of complex legal matters. Mr. Pelland is a 1990 graduate of Michigan State University with a B.A in Financial Administration, and graduated summa cum laude from Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University in 1996. After law school, Mr. Pelland spent ten years with the Detroit office of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, PLC in its Commercial Litigation Department. At Miller Canfield, Mr. Pelland worked on hundreds of cases ranging from landlord tenant matters and collection actions to complex commercial litigation and construction defect claims. In 2006, Mr. Pelland formed the Law Office of James M. Pelland, PLLC where he continued to represent clients in criminal and civil litigation matters, along with serving other legal needs of individuals and businesses throughout Michigan. Mr. Pelland has been a frequent speaker on such topics as mortgage foreclosures and litigation practices. He is a member of the State Bars of Michigan and Florida, and is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan. Mr. Pelland has served as the Prosecuting Attorney for the City of Rockwood since 2001.
