Norm Partington is a very experienced, creative and successful advocate for client’s who are accused of serious criminal offenses in state and federal courts. What makes Norm different than many other attorneys is his commitment to communicating effectively and clearly with his clients. Norm believes strongly in listening closely to his clients to be sure he really understands their situation, and to be sure that every argument that can help their case is developed and made. Norm’s style is to be direct and aggressive in his defense without being offensive. Norm has been arguing competitively since his high school when he was a member of the debate team at Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah. Norm went on to debate at the University of Utah, where he and Brad Meryhew were on the team together for a year. Here they both learned the art of vigorous and aggressive argumentation without personal animus.

Norm graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelors degree in Political Science and International Relations in 1983. He graduated in 1987 from the University of Puget Sound School of Law (now Seattle University School of Law), which was then in Tacoma, Washington. During law school he participated in the Jessup International Moot Court team for two years, was a member of Phi Delta Phi, and a president and treasurer of the International Law Society. A Utah native, Norm relocated to western Washington after law school.  He has passed the Utah, Washington, and Hawaii bar exams, and has been practicing criminal defense law since 1987.   In addition, he is admitted to the 9th and 10th Circuit District Courts as well as Western Washington and Utah Federal Courts.

Norm worked for Associated Counsel for the Accused from 1989 to 2004.  During that time he worked in virtually every practice area the firm had, including Municipal and District courts handling misdemeanors, and King County Superior Court handling juvenile court, dependencies and adult felonies.  Norm has also worked in night court in Seattle Municipal Court and has appeared in most Superior Courts in the Puget Sound area as well as every District and Municipal Court in King County.   Norm has represented clients on domestic violence offenses since the late 80’s, and on sexual offenses since 1992. During that time he has gained extensive experience investigating, negotiating and litigating these challenging cases, achieving excellent results for his clients.
