Patty Allison Fairweather, Esq. is an attorney in private practice, licensed in Rhode Island and Connecticut. She specializes in immigration law and homeland defense/security law. Her mission is to provide all of her clients with personalized service that respects human dignity.
Patty has practiced law since graduating from Boston College Law School in 1997. She also has a Master's in Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a BA in English literature from RI College.
Throughout her career, Patty has consistently put the public interest first, serving as law clerk to a Chief Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court, as an Associate Public Defender, as Deputy Counsel to a Rhode Island Governor, and as Executive Counsel to the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management.
After 9/11, Patty, like many in the United States, wanted to do more to protect the country and ensure that the liberty interests of individuals were not trampled upon. So, she applied and was accepted to a Master’s program in Security Studies, sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security, and located at the Naval Postgraduate School Center for Homeland Defense and Security, Monterey CA. Throughout the program, she focused her attention on balancing liberty and security interests and gained particular insight into how immigration law intersects with homeland defense and security law.
After graduating with a Master’s in Security Studies, Patty became certified in Advanced Immigration law from the Washington Online Institute; published a book which addresses, in part, judicial balancing of civil liberties and securities measures for both US and non-US citizens;and opened a private practice focusing on immigration law and homeland defense and security law.
