Shannon graduated from Auburn University ('03), where she attended on a full academic scholarship. She completed her third year of law school at the University of Georgia School of Law ('06) after completing her first two years at the University of Tulsa College of Law ('05) In law school, Shannon was an active member of the Moot Court trial practice team, placing nationally for her oral argument in the National Health Law Competition ('04) and her appellate brief ('05), and receiving numerous awards for oral and written advocacy. She was elected as Speaker of the House for the Student Bar Association Executive Committee ('04-'05). Shannon worked for Prior, Daniel and Wiltshire in Athens as a law clerk while she was a student at UGA ('05). After receiving her JD, she went on to work for the law firm Forrester & Brim in Gainesville where she handled medical malpractice and insurance defense cases ('06-'07). Shannon joined Mark and Blaine in 2007 to develop the family practice for the firm, and has worked exclusively in family law since beginning with Wiggins & Norris LLC. Her practice includes divorce, child custody, visitation, and support issues, adoption, restraining orders, and all other matters within the domestic relations arena.
Shannon is a member of the Board of Directors of the Western Circuit Bar Association, the Georgia Bar Association (Family Law Section), the Young Professionals of Athens, The Georgia Association for Women Lawyers, and she is a supervising attorney for Diakonia Christian Legal Services in Athens and is an actively involved member of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Athens. Shannon is married to Chris Coffey, and they have two children.
