Jill was recognized by the U. S. Department of Transportation for her pilot work in forming a nonprofit corporation for the Memphis ARTCC Child Development Center. This work was then used by the other air traffic facilities and the IRS centers across the nation in establishing their child care/development centers.
Current and/or past member of American Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, Memphis Bar Association, Tennessee Lawyers Association of Women, Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association, National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, Mississippi Bar Association, Mississippi Bankruptcy Conference, Inc., National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees and American Bankruptcy Institute.
Currently serving on the Memphis Bar Association board as section rep for Bankruptcy. Also serving on the Board of Directors for the Bankruptcy Section. On the board she has served as chairperson for hospitality, cle (continuing legal education), and annual seminar. Jill is currently serving on the Bench Bar CLE committee. She served two years (2005 and 2006) as coach for the law school moot court team for the Conrad B. Duberstein Moot Court Competition at St. John's University. Jill has served as co-chairperson of the Bankruptcy Liaison Committee.
She has also served on the bankruptcy space and technology committee and the bankruptcy rules committee.
In the past, Jill has served as Membership Chairperson for the Memphis Bar Association and on numerous other committees including Bench Bar and Judicial Evaluations. She has been a member of the family law section, criminal law section, solo/small firm section and bankruptcy section (currently). Jill was selected as a barrister member of the Leo Bearman, Sr. Chapter of American Inns of Court.
She was selected to be one of the "50 Women Who Make A Difference" in Memphis in 2004. She has practiced in various areas of the law, including adoptions, probate, civil, criminal, contract, business, family law, guardian ad litem, personal injury, workmen's compensation and bankruptcy, from 1985 until August of 2002. In 2002, Jill accepted a position with the Memphis and Shelby County Juvenile Court on contract to the State of Tennessee to handle the federal bankruptcy work for the IV-D cases. In 2004 she returned to private practice and now almost exclusively practices in the bankruptcy courts in the Western district of Tennessee and the Northern District of Mississippi.
