Jeff Owens was born and raised in northern Idaho. He graduated from Coeur d'Alene high school in 1995, serving as the student body president from 1994 to 1995. Jeff attended college in Provo, Utah at Brigham Young University, where he completed his freshman year with a 4.0 grade-point-average. After that year, Jeff left for Taiwan, where he served a two-year mission for the Mormon Church and learned to speak Mandarin Chinese. He then completed college and traveled to Norfolk, Virginia, where he trained and practiced as an electro-diagnostic technician for Sentara Health Systems and Norfolk General Hospital.
Then, beginning in the fall of 2002, Jeff began law school at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. After receiving honors in legal research and writing, Jeff worked as a student mentor for first year law students to help sharpen their legal research and writing skills. During his second and third years of law school, Jeff worked as a law clerk for the firm Swanson, Lathen, Alexander & McCann. While working as a law clerk, Jeff assisted with three (3) jury trials and one (1) bench trial; each involving claims for personal injury.
Following law school, Jeff worked as an associate attorney for the firm Owens, James, Vernon & Weeks. As an associate, Jeff was responsible for a caseload of over 40 cases and also assisted the partners with their cases. During this time, Jeff assisted as a second chair in multiple jury trials.
Then, in the spring of 2006, Jeff joined the firm of Owens & Crandall, where he is currently a partner. During the past five years, Jeff has helped over 100 people resolve their personal injury and/or medical malpractice claims, some of these cases receiving a judgment at trial. Jeff has also developed a special expertise in handling insurance bad faith and ERISA claims.
When he is not working, Jeff enjoys skiing and biking with his eight-year old son and attending his four-year old daughter's gymnastic meets. Jeff's wife Sarah is a student at Gonzaga University who enjoys learning and teaching Spanish to kids.
