Hiroaki (“Hiro”) Nishikawara is an experienced attorney at Moreno & Villarrubia LLP whose practice focuses in immigration and nationality law.  Mr. Nishikawara is a member of the firm’s Immigration and Global Mobility Practice Group and the firm’s Corporate Department and Employment Group.  He chairs the firm's Japanese services as a member of the Global Services Practice Group.

Prior to joining Moreno & Villarrubia, Mr. Nishikawara was in private practice with a large national law firm for 8 years where his practice area included employment defense in addition to immigration law.  Mr. Nishikawara routinely advises clients on visa options that best suit their needs and prepares necessary material for adjudication by the USCIS and U.S. consular posts in obtaining non-immigrant and immigrant visas (e.g., new office L visa; blanket L visa; initial and extension petitions for L-1A “people managers”, “functional managers”, and specialized knowledge personnel; H-1B specialty occupation visa; employment-based “green card” petitions; E visa registration as a result of new investment in the United States, merger and acquisition activities).

Mr. Nishikawara also provides counsel to clients to plan ahead for the hiring of foreign nationals by considering the types of job duties to be performed, anticipated length of assignments, and other factors that can influence the hiring decisions of foreign personnel.

Mr. Nishikawara’s representation goes beyond corporate clients.  He also enjoys assisting individual clients with family-based matters, including the filing of immediate relative petitions for “green cards”, applications to adjust status or consular process to obtain lawful permanent resident status, and all related issues such as applications for travel document, employment authorization, removal of condition, and related petitions.

Mr. Nishikawara joined Moreno & Villarrubia in 2013 to pursue his strong interest in immigration law and to focus exclusively on all aspects of immigration law for both corporate and individual clients.  Mr. Nishikawara received his Juris Doctor degree in 2004 from The John Marshall Law School.  Mr. Nishikawara is admitted to the Indiana Supreme Court (May 2004), U.S. District for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana (May 2004), and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit (October 2007).
