Nichols, Carl J.

Of counsel to the Firm, Matthew Neel is engaged in general practice and has experience in a range of practice areas. Intellectual property is a particular area of interest and activity, ranging from licensing and transactions to litigating copyright, trade secret, and related actions in Federal and New York State courts. He is deeply concerned with the legal needs and vulnerabilities of artists, computer programmers, photographers, authors, and other individuals engaged in creative production. Artists and creators need good advice on how to profit from their inspiration and hard work and how to protect themselves from those who would pirate their creative products.

Matthew also has experience in a variety of other practice areas ranging from estate and probate matters, commercial contracting, employment, and general civil litigation. As his practice develops, he intends to focus as well on discrimination and civil rights issues, including in particular those related to race, age, gender, and sexual orientation.

Matthew is admitted to practice in New York State courts and before the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. He is a graduate of the University of Washington and Boston University School of Law. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
