Nerwinski, Kevin P

David is an associate in our Health Law department. His primary practice involves advising clients with regard to regulatory and other health law matters. He represents clients in all types of healthcare litigation, including criminal, civil and administrative fraud and abuse investigations; Medicare, Medicaid and private insurer audits, and commercial litigation. He also represents providers in professional discipline and regulatory enforcement matters. David has broad experience in a variety of civil and commercial litigation practice areas, including experience in dealership/distributorship and franchising litigation, financial litigation and consumer protection and fraud litigation.

Prior to joining the firm, David practiced as an associate attorney with Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi LLP in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Before attending law school, he spent six years with Merrill Lynch Government Securities, Inc. in New York, NY, serving as a bond trader on the company's U.S. Government Agency Desk. His experience included: primary and secondary market trading responsibilities, syndication and origination of bond issues for government sponsored enterprises, and the execution and implementation of hedging strategies involving futures and interest rate swaps.

While in law school, David was the recipient of the Dean's Elite Scholarship and the Royal Stone Scholarship. He was a member of the law school's Consumer Protection Clinic (2006-2007), and also served as a judicial extern in the chambers of the Hon. Franklin L. Noel, United States Magistrate Judge for the District of Minnesota (Summer 2005).

David currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Green Tech High Charter School in Albany. He is past-President of the Amherst College Alumni Association of Minnesota (2009-2010) and maintains a keen interest in secondary and post-secondary education issues. He served on the University of Minnesota Law School ABA Reaccreditation/Self-Study Committee (2009-2010) and was also voted the Page Education Foundation: Senior Mentor of the Year in 2009.
