Nelson, Scott D.

Scott Nelson represents clients in a wide variety of commercial disputes, including real estate, contract disputes, insurance coverage, products liability, employment, and trade secrets litigation. Mr. Nelson has won numerous cases by prevailing at trial or summary judgment in such matters as breach of contract, fraud, bad faith insurance litigation, products liability, and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

In, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2009, the publishers of Los Angeles Magazine Law & Politics selected Mr. Nelson as a "Southern California Rising Star". This distinction is awarded to only 2.5% of attorneys under the age of 40.

Mr. Nelson graduated from the University of California Davis School of Law, where he served as the Notes & Comments Editor for the U.C. Davis Law Review, and where his Law Review Note earned the Patrick J. Hopkins Memorial Award for the best-written student law review article. During law school, Mr. Nelson externed for the Honorable James N. Barr of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California.

Mr. Nelson obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in both Law & Society and Spanish and graduated as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Prior to joining Callahan & Blaine, Mr. Nelson was an associate with Arter & Hadden, Greenberg Traurig, and most recently Hodel Briggs Winter LLP.

Some of Mr. Nelson's opinions include: Volunteers of America of Los Angeles v. Royal Indem. Co., 2005 WL 3118741 (Cal. Ct. App. 2005); Mobile Ritz, L.P. v. Tri-American Mobile Homes, Inc. 2005 WL 958234 (Cal. Ct. App. 2005); Lexington v. Allianz Ins. Co., 2006 WL 1027013 (9th Cir. 2006); and AmCal Multi-Housing, Inc. et al. v. Pacific Clay Products, 518 F.Supp.2d 1194 (C.D. Cal. 2007).

Mr. Nelson has lectured for the last three years for California's Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB).
