ROGER L. MYERS concentrates his practice in complex commercial litigation and all real estate related matters, inlcuding zoning and land use, construction law, and property tax law.
Admitted to practice in Michigan and California, Mr. Myers is a member of both the State Bar of Michigan (and its Sections on Real Property Law, Business Law and Appellate Practice) and the State Bar of California. He is also a member of the Livingston County Bar Association.
Since 2007, Mr. Myers has been recognized each year as one of the Michigan SuperLawyers by Law & Politics Magazine. The SuperLawyers designation is an annual listing of the top 5% of attorneys in the state of Michigan as determined through a selection process based upon peer recognition and professional achievement. Mr. Myers is designated as one of the Michigan SuperLawyers in the practice areas of business litigation, real estate and zoning and land use law. As a result of his successful representation of clients in state and federal courts throughout Michigan, Mr. Myers was also selected in 2008 to become a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America, a trial lawyer honor society comprised of less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. Fellowship in the Litigation Counsel of America is based upon an evaluation of the Fellow's accomplishments and ethical reputation as a trial lawyer.
Mr. Myers' published cases include Paragon Properties Co v City of Novi, 452 Mich 568; 550 NW2d 772 (1996); and Green Oak Twp v Munzel, 255 Mich App 235; 661 NW2d 243 (2003), two leading cases in Michigan zoning and land use jurisprudence; Michigan Division-Monument Builders of North America v Michigan Cemetery Ass'n, 458 F Supp 2d 474, 2006-2 Trade Cases P 75, 515 (ED Mich 2006); V Jacobs & Sons v Saginaw County Dept of Public Health, 284 F Supp 2d 711 (ED Mich 2003); Holloway Const Co v Oakland County Bd of County Road Comm'rs, 450 Mich 608; 543 NW2d 923 (1996) and Wineman v Durkee Lakes Hunting & Fishing Club, Inc, 352 F Supp 2d 815 (ED Mich 2005).
Mr. Myers received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Notre Dame in 1989 and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Detroit School of Law in 1992, where he was the recipient of the 1992 Frank S. Sengstock Law Review Award and the 1992 Corporate and Environmental Law Chmielnicki Scholarship. While in law school, Mr. Myers was a member of the National Trial Team and the National Environmental Team. He was a Case and Comment Editor for the University of Detroit Law Review (1991-1992), From 1993 to 1994, Mr. Myers served as a law clerk to the Hon. Robert P. Griffin of the Michigan Supreme Court.
