Mark T. Murray is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law and in Civil Pretrial Practice by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and Civil Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Mark’s years of practice are distinguished by personal achievements and honors that few in the legal community attain. Mark was chosen as a Texas Super Lawyer in 2003 and every year since by Texas Monthly Publication, placing him in the top 5% of all lawyers in the State of Texas. He is currently listed in the Texas Top 100 and the Houston Region Top 100. He has also been selected as a Houston Top Lawyer by H Texas Magazine. These selections reflect the acknowledged respect throughout the legal community, which actually makes these selections. Mark’s dedication to victims’ rights is exemplified by his election as the President of the Houston Trial Lawyers Association, an organization committed solely to protecting, promoting and safeguarding the rights of people who must seek redress in law. Perhaps Mark’s passion to serve those in need was the underpinning to his designation of Life Fellow in the Texas Bar Foundation, the largest charitable-funded bar foundation in the country, dedicated to advancing the justice system for all. A member of the State Bar of Texas and Houston Bar Association, Mark serves on the Special Olympics Committee. In addition to serving in these capacities, Mark also strives to improve advocacy skills of young lawyers by teaching as an Adjunct Professor at South Texas College of Law. He served as the 2011 President of the South Texas Alumni Association, and is a frequent CLE lecturer and contributor.

Born in Colorado, Mark was raised and educated in Texas, where he received his B.A. from Baylor University and his J.D. from South Texas College of Law. Mark’s exceptional advocacy skills in law school earned his admission to the esteemed Order of the Barristers. After graduating law school in 1990, Mark joined the firm of Tucker, Hendryx and Gascoyne, litigating cases for those who had been sued. Mark began his career practicing plaintiff’s personal injury law five years later when he joined the firm of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Matthews & Friend, and has since then devoted his practice to protecting the rights of those injured through the negligent and willful conduct of others. Mark joined John Stevenson in 2005 to continue his commitment to seek the most effective redress for persons and families experiencing catastrophic injury and death.
