Morrison, Laurie E.

After having run his own law practice in Danvers, Massachusetts for several years, Attorney Mooney joined Finneran & Nicholson, PC to head up the tax, estate planning, probate and bankruptcy practice of the Firm. He holds a Master of Laws in Taxation, bringing to the Firm a tax expertise of increasing importance to individual and corporate clients alike, including succession planning for small and medium sized businesses. Attorney Mooney has represented businesses, families, and individuals and successfully concluded intellectual property license agreements with most of the Fortune 100, creating important sources of new revenue for clients. He has extensive experience in intellectual property licensing arrangements, has served on a number of technical standards committees, including with the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA) and has spoken on compliance issues throughout the United States and Europe. Attorney Mooney has appeared before the United States Tax Court, the United States Bankruptcy Court, and various Probate and Family Courts throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts representing clients for wills and will contests, trusts and estates, probate, bankruptcy, tax, and corporate matters. He is a co-author of Digital Rights Management: Business and Technology, published by John Wiley & Sons and he currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Essex County Estate Planning Council and the Planned Giving Committee of Tufts Medical Center. He is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the State of New York, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the United States Tax Court.

A citizen of Ireland and the United States, Attorney Mooney received a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the Fordham University School of Law in New York and a Master of Laws in Taxation (LL.M.) from the Boston University School of Law.
