Charles Monterio joined Dickstein Shapiro as an attorney in the Intellectual Property Practice in January 2005. Mr. Monterio is an associate in the firm's Washington, DC office. His practice focuses primarily on patent litigation dealing with a variety of technologies, but mainly concentrates in the field of mechanical patents ranging from simple mechanical devices to the highly complex. While representing various clients clients such as ERBE Elektromedizin GmbH, Bharti Airtel Limited, and Arthrex, Inc. before different district courts as well as the U.S. International Trade Commission, he has acquired patent litigation experience related to all phases of a case including managing discovery, taking depositions, preparing and opposing motions, and working with experts.
Mr. Monterio also has experience in patent portfolio counseling and prosecution concentrating in the fields of biotechnology, chemical and mechanical, electrical, and design and plant patents. He has represented clients such as Ricoh Company, Ltd.; Hitachi, Ltd.; E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Company; ERBE Elektromedizin GmbH; Research-In-Motion, Ltd.; Ascendent Telecommunications, Inc.; and Micron Technology, Inc., as well as many smaller corporations and independent inventors.
