Amanda A. Mingo is a seasoned litigator concentrating on civil plaintiff's work, helping those who have been injured. A former criminal prosecutor with extensive jury trial experience, Ms. Mingo is a dedicated professional, committed to working for the best results for her clients.
Professional
Following law school, Ms. Mingo joined the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Office in September 1997 and was immediately assigned to the felony drug prosecution team where she prosecuted cases against drug traffickers and dealers. During this time she was active in the Mecklenburg County drug treatment court program and volunteered as a reading tutor with the Structured Day Program. In 1999, Ms. Mingo attended a Spanish Immersion School in San Jose, Costa Rica where she spent two months learning the language and the culture. In 2000, Amanda was assigned to the Persons Team, prosecuting violent crimes. For the next three-years she used her Spanish language skills, specializing in prosecuting violent crimes against Spanish-speaking victims and developed and implemented procedures for case management, communication with and assistance for those victims.
Upon leaving the D.A.'s office in 2003, Ms. Mingo briefly went into private practice. She was quickly recruited to join Rawls, Dickinson & Scheer in early 2004 to assist in personal injury litigation. She now specializes in wrongful death cases and personal injury law, representing people who have been injured. In addition, she works with partner Tony Scheer representing whistleblowers and prosecuting claims of fraud against the government. Ms. Mingo also handles insurance coverage disputes, ABC permitting and violations, zoning issues, professional licensing issues and other administrative matters. In 2011, Ms. Mingo joined Eben Rawls, Tony Scheer and Mark Foster to form the law firm of Rawls, Scheer, Foster & Mingo, PLLC. In addtion to being named managing partner of RSFM, Ms. Mingo has also earned and AV rating with Martindale-Hubbell, signifying the highest legal ability rating and the highest rating for ethical conduct.
Personal
Ms. Mingo is the daughter of a hospice nurse and a former police officer and has a strong commitment to helping others. She has volunteered with the Mecklenburg County school system, was a member of the lawyers support committee, raises money each year for various organizations and volunteers as counsel for members of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Ms. Mingo married in 2002 and is the proud mother of two. She spends her personal time with her family and friends. Once an avid runner, Ms. Mingo completed four marathons. She now runs when time permits, and is an Ashtanga yoga enthusiast.
