Mitten, L. Russell

Mary Leah obtained her undergraduate degree from Duke University. She then entered Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, where she obtained her law degree in 2007, with a Certificate in Trial Advocacy. While at Cumberland, Mary Leah was extremely active in the trial advocacy program. She was a member of the National Trial Advocacy Team and served on the Trial Advocacy Board. Mary Leah was also a member of the American Journal of Trail Advocacy and was elected to the Honor Court. She was selected as a Who’s Who Among Students In National College and Universities, and is a national member of the Oder of Barristers.

Upon graduating from law school, Mary Leah began practicing law with Tom Willingham. Mary Leah has focused her legal career exclusively on representing individuals who have been injured. While she has handled a variety of personal injury cases, Mary Leah’s practice is now primarily focused on product liability actions, with an emphasis on automotive crashworthiness. She has represented individuals who have been catastrophically injured or killed against foreign and domestic manufacturers of various products, including, vehicles, motorcycles, prescription drugs, medical devices, and tires. Mary Leah’s knowledge and experience has enabled her to obtain millions of dollars in settlements for her clients, and over thirty million dollars in judgments for those who have been wrongfully killed. Mary Leah considers it an honor and privilege to represent and to be a voice for injury victims.

Mary Leah is an active member of the Alabama Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, the Birmingham Bar Association, the Attorneys Information Exchange Group, and the Alabama and Mississippi Bar Associations. She is on the Junior Board of Directors of the Alabama Civil Justice Foundation. Mary Leah is admitted to practice law in all State and Federal courts in Alabama and Mississippi.
