Stephen R. Minagil has over 30 years experience representing clients throughout Nevada, and currently provides legal services in all areas of family law, criminal law, and matters involving administrative agencies.
Mr. Minagil has lived in Las Vegas since 1963, graduating from UNLV in 1974 (American History) and Southwestern University School of Law (Los Angeles) in 1977. Mr. Minagil first served as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of Nevada, representing the Department of Motor Vehicles, and then as a criminal prosecutor for the City of Las Vegas.
Mr. Minagil operated a successful solo practice specializing in family law from 1982 to 2007, litigating all types of family law matters, including divorce, relocation of children, custody/visitation, child support, and alimony. Mr. Minagil's advocacy in the Nevada Supreme Court case of Trent v. Trent led to the current body of law governing requests by custodial parents to relocate children out of state.
Mr. Minagil also served as General Counsel for the Southern Nevada Health District, helping to enforce the Nevada Clean Indoor Air Act, plus laws regarding food establishments, public pools and spas, emergency medical services and solid waste management. Mr. Minagil has recently returned to private practice, and continues to provide sound and efficient legal representation as part of the Pecos Law Group team.
Mr. Minagil has enjoyed wedded bliss for thirty years and counting, and has two grown children and a ton of in laws living in Las Vegas. Mr. Minagil is an avid runner and cyclist, is active with the non-profit Las Vegas Track Club, and hopes to be an Olympic athlete when he grows up.
