John has broad experience in commercial litigation matters, including product liability, construction, insurance, reinsurance, and commercial disputes. He has appeared in state and federal courts and alternative dispute proceedings handling all levels of general litigation practice, including coordinating all aspects of discovery, trial preparation, trial, and post-trial briefing. In addition, John has taken and defended fact and expert depositions, authored and argued dispositive motions, led teams in large-scale document reviews, and participated in mediations.
Prior to joining Jones Day, John successfully defended a major building materials manufacturer in product liability and construction lawsuits. John was part of the litigation team for a trial in New York state court for a major international reinsurer in a claim for actuarial malpractice. John also participated in an AAA arbitration hearing for an owner of a large manufacturing facility in a commercial dispute with a contractor related to a multimillion dollar roofing project. In that hearing he conducted cross-examination and direct examination of expert and fact witnesses. In addition, John counseled clients on recent changes to the electronic discovery provisions of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and worked directly with client information technology professionals to develop action plans and litigation hold strategies.
John is a member of the American Bar Association and the Allegheny County Bar Association.
