Joseph C. Messina has been practicing law for over 30 years specializing in the protection of intellectual property rights for clients in the recording and performing arts (including related areas of music and entertainment law) as well as those clients in general business such as retail, sales, lease, restaurant establishments and computer programming. He has extensive experience counseling clients from coast to coast to protect their ideas and creations and in obtaining trademark registrations at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
In addition to his experience as an intellectual property attorney, Mr. Messina has successfully run his own real estate business and has managed and counseled recording artists, record producers, film directors and writers. He received a Grammy nomination as project attorney for his work on an album which included the last recorded performance by jazz legend Art Blakey. In addition, he is the recipient of a gold record for his management of the highly successful recording artist Steam which produced international sales of over six million copies. Mr. Messina earned his Juris Doctor degree from Fordham University School of Law, his Masters degree from Yale University and his undergraduate degree from New York University.
He is a member of the New York State and American Bar Associations and is admitted to the United States Federal District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
