Mr. Mercado's practice has been focused in general civil and commercial matters with emphasis in contractual disputes, collections, torts, maritime law and electronic discovery at state and federal level. Before joining the firm he worked five years at McConnell Valdés, LLC as a litigation associate. Also, he worked as a student law clerk for Honorable Judge Aida Delgado Colón, at the Federal District Court.
He earned his law degree, summa cum laude, from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico and served as Associate Director for the Law Review, as a teacher assistant for Professor Luis Sánchez Caso and was a member of the Federal Bar Association Student Chapter. Mr. Mercado also studied at the Babson College, Wellesley, MA, where he received a B.S. in Business Administration in 2003. In 2012, he obtained a Masters in Law in E-Discovery, Intellectual Property, Computer Privacy, Antitrust and Employment Discrimination from Columbia University.
Mr. Mercado is a frequent lecturer on the subject area of e-discovery and is strongly familiarized with the legal developments of said area of law throughout both, Federal and State jurisdictions.
