James McKenney joined the firm in 2006 and his practice is focused in complex civil and commercial litigation involving the prosecution and defense of insurance and health care litigation, with particular emphasis and experience in the areas of insurance fraud law, and related litigation and coverage issues. Mr. McKenney has gained expertise in litigating complex matters ranging from contract disputes to civil racketeering (RICO), anti-trust and first party and third party bad faith claims. Mr. McKenney also has significant experience litigating employment and labor matters, trademark and copyright matters and other general commercial litigations.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. McKenney served as a law clerk to the Honorable Mark D. Fox in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and in the Staff Attorneys' Office for the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, during which he wrote extensively on various legal issues, including habeas corpus, prisoners' rights, civil rights, constitutional law, immigration, employment discrimination and contract disputes.
Mr. McKenney is a graduate of New York Law School and served on the law school's Moot Court Association as an Executive Editor. He was National Semi-Finalist in American University's Burton D. Wechsler First Amendment Moot Court Competition and was also the recipient of the New York Law School's Henry J. Rothblatt Award for Criminal Advocacy and the Joseph Solomon Public Interest Fellowship.
