Robert McDonough was born in Chicago in 1949, the second of eight children. He grew up in the northwest suburbs. He graduated from the University of Illinois, Chicago in 1971. In 1975, he earned the degree of Juris Doctor With Distinction from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago. Since 1978, he and his wife have lived in Wheaton where they raised four children.
Mr. McDonough has been in private practice since 1975, successfully handling an extremely wide and varied range of civil matters, including commercial and domestic relations litigation, trials and appeals, commercial and residential real estate development and transactions, mediation and arbitration. He has unselfishly served his profession and his community in many ways as a volunteer, and educator and a leader.
Mr. McDonough has patterned his professional life upon the model of those "family lawyers" who were always there for his parents and their children, for advice and wise counsel. He is a respected and dedicated member of his professional, service, social and church communities. He and his wife enjoy golfing, sailing, and their three young grandchildren; and he enjoys participating in triathalons and fitness activities.
