John Mazey represents financial institutions, private equity funds, and public and private companies on a wide variety of commercial financing transactions, including leveraged cash flow and asset-based lending; leveraged buyouts; recapitalizations; and cross-border, equipment, real estate, mezzanine, and professional sports franchise financing. He also has significant experience counseling clients through financial distress involving out-of-court workouts, debt restructurings, and debtor-in-possession financing and has been at the heart of matters that have involved the use of TARP funds and other emergency government economic intervention.
Recently, John worked on several complex multibillion dollar financings for Chrysler, including emergency working capital financing provided by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, debtor-in-possession financing provided by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and Export Development Canada, and a comprehensive dealer and retail financing arrangement with GMAC. In addition, he represented Louisiana-Pacific in connection with a high-yield unit offering and asset-based credit facility. John also has substantial experience representing traditional and nontraditional lenders such as JPMorgan Chase, KeyBank, Patriarch Partners, and PNC/National City. He currently is working on a complex cross-border out-of-court restructuring that involves a debt-for-equity swap and a transfer of ownership control.
