WILLIAM S. WRIGHT is a Partner in the Firm's Real Estate, Lending and Commercial Practice Group. His work includes consultation with and legal representation of developers, municipalities, financial institutions, and other business organizations in real estate, financing, commercial, land use, leasing, construction, acquisition, contractual, development, organizational and other transactions and matters. His work emphasizes consultation with municipalities on land regulatory matters and Form-Based Code initiatives.

Bill is a co-author of the SmartCode & Manual, a commentary and annotated guide to the adoption, customization and implementation of the SmartCode, a model land regulatory planning, development, zoning and subdivision ordinance that enables and encourages Smart Growth development and redevelopment.

He was selected to work with the Mississippi Renewal Forum organized by the Governor's Commission and the CNU for the redevelopment of the post-Katrina Gulf Coast and has worked on a number of Smart Growth development and Form-Based Code matters for private developers and municipalities. He developed the Model Smart Growth Development Code for Mississippi Cities and Counties for redevelopment after Katrina.

Bill was a recipient of the inaugural Driehaus Institute Form-Based Codes Award for his Form-Based Code Work on The Mississippi Gulf Coast. Bill is a member of the Congress for the New Urbanism and the Land Use, Planning and Zoning Committee of the ABA's Real Property, Probate and Trust Section.

He has spoken and taught extensively on Smart Growth and Form-Based Coding.
